2. Data We Collect

  • Account Data: Your mobile phone number (used as your unique identifier).
  • Call Detail Records (CDRs): Metadata about your calls (number called, date, time, duration, IP address). We do not record the content of your conversations.
  • Contact Information: Names and phone numbers from your device’s address book (only if permission is granted).
  • Payment Data: Transaction history and partial payment details. Full credit card processing is handled by secure third-party providers (Stripe, PayPal).
  • Technical Data: Device ID, operating system version, and App performance logs.

4. Contact List Access

Call Zim requests access to your mobile contacts to make it easier for you to call friends and family in Zimbabwe without manual typing.

  • Processing: We only upload contact numbers to our secure servers to match them with international calling formats.
  • Control: This is optional. You can deny or revoke this permission at any time. We do not sell or share your contact lists with third-party marketers.

6. International Data Transfers

Since Call Zim connects the UK to Zimbabwe, your call routing data (CDRs) necessarily travels across international borders. We use Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to ensure your data remains protected to UK standards.

8. Your Rights

Under the UK GDPR and the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, you have the right to:

Access: Request a copy of your data.
Rectification: Correct inaccurate data.
Erasure: Request account/data deletion.
Portability: Transfer data to another service.

Complaints can be raised with us or directly with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

9. Security

We implement industry-standard security, including TLS 1.3 encryption for data in transit and AES-256 for data at rest. Access to user data is strictly limited to authorized personnel.
